Attunement can be a lovely way to begin a session

Attune: to bring into harmony, to make aware or responsive.

I often like to begin Focusing sessions or therapy with an attunement. Like meditation, attunement is a process of slowing down our racing minds and cultivating awareness of our Self. Awareness of our body sensations, breath, and how we feel holistically – from the outside and from the inside. The result is typically:
  • A calmer nervous system
  • An awareness of what’s present for you in this moment
  • A readiness to explore what needs attention
